Last summer I worked with a Washington D.C. area client who was planning her Franklin, TN, wedding weekend coming up in October. We began designing her wedding invitation suite inspired by jewel-toned teal, purple, and gold… and peacocks! Can’t wait to post that design, but before I do, I want to show you these rehearsal dinner invitations. With the wedding invitation design wrapped up, Anna called me up again and wanted to explore a custom-designed rehearsal dinner invitation. Only this time we were going with a Tex-Mex theme to coordinate with the dinner menu. What fun! I pulled inspiration from Mexican tiles, lace, and folk art. We incorporated the teal and gold and the monogram frame (you’ll see!) of her wedding invite, but swapped out the purple with a bright and cheery red. I am so, so proud of this design. And I can almost taste the carnitas and salsa. Delicioso!

I have found the wedding industry to be an uber-collaborative one. So it was right on par when Tiffani of Creative Designs & Events first told me her big idea. Together with Jennifer of Mr. & Mrs. Weddings and Events, these two planner gals are launching Nashville’s first Wedding Planners Group – a focused monthly meeting of local planners to mix and mingle as well as collaborate, share ideas, and meet hand-picked area vendors. And their first meeting is tonight!! While Nashville has plenty of similar type groups that gather wedding industry folk across various services, it has been lacking a focused group exclusively for planners. What a marvelous idea! And the cherry on top? Tiffani and Jennifer asked Design in August to dream up their printed invitation. Violá! Cool gray, with a pop of yellow and peacock blue set the stage for a lively event, while rounded corners finish off this modern twist on a vintage ad.

A vertical format for this announcement makes a “newsy” statement and reads like a mini-banner.

Pretty, pretty peacock envelopes paired with a collection of stamps in similar color palettes.

And next month yours truly will be attending the NWP Group meeting as the featured vendor of the night.
Looking forward to meeting more of Nashville’s finest!

I realize there still is snow on the ground, but in the world of design we stay ahead by a season – if not two! Today’s post features an invitation suite for a spring wedding. A night-before dessert reception, a traditional ceremony in a church, followed by a garden party. Three pieces of varying heights stack inside a neat little pocket folder, their tops all coordinated and contrasting. These then slip into an exterior envelope – all in tints of peapod green. Perfect for May, wouldn’t you say? The month of “Yes, you May.” Be sure to catch the Inspiration Board behind this invite for a whimsical garden fête.

Interested in customizing this suite for your upcoming event? Message me using the above “Say Hello” form. To learn more about stationery design by Design in August check out the About page. Cheers!
