Stationery | Business-to-Business Note Cards

After completing the design for his holiday cards, my client at My Private Brand asked me to move on to designing note cards. Our goal was to make these as simple, branded cards to be used for hand-written thank you notes and other correspondence. Simple, yet with a statement. I proposed an embossed design with his company’s monogrammed logo – a very classic look for personal stationery, yet a natural fit for this business-to-business application. A flood of gorgeous blue on the front with a raised logo, paired with his trademark brackets pattern on the back of the card to keep in theme with his first mailing of 2013. And a simple switch of ink color for the custom rubber stamp we made for his first mailing finishes off the look.

Branding | Rustic Elegance

Rustic Elegance.  Is that an oxymoron?  Maybe.  But not in this Etsy shop!  In this Etsy shop rustic really is elegant, and Tonia really is a gifted artisan.  Tonia is a repeat client (don’t you love those?!) whom I have had the pleasure of working with, first on her oak tree wedding invitation suite, and now on the look for her newly launched business.  Tonia reclaims pieces of wood from furniture, old homes, etc. and turns them into custom frames for your photos or artwork.  In her hands, history frames another story.  In her own words, she finds “wood that may have been part of someone’s fireplace or part of their doorway.  Our memories are cradled by the memories of so many others.”  She needed a logo and an Etsy banner that conveyed that artisan feel with an old timey flare.

She makes coat racks and jewelry holders, too!  Hop on over to Tonia’s shop and place an order today!

Branding | Legacy

I love it when awesome clients bring me awesome clients.  A certain favorite client of mine recommended Design in August for a new branding project.  The folks at Legacy OB/GYN were looking for a new logo.  At first they wanted to explore a fleur de lis sort of symbol, but instead we pursued more abstract shapes.  They wanted a logo that would capture their warm, approachable and careful care of patients.  I love the modern script paired with the clean lines of the sans serif font.  And now the logo sits prominently at the top of Legacy’s new website, adding a lively and organic touch to the clean and simple lines of the site design.

Branding | Jams by Mags

Handcrafted.  Artisan.  From Napa Valley to Arlington deliciousness.  That’s Jams by Mags.  All of these jams are hand cut, small batch preserves, created with the highest quality local ingredients, made in the peak of their season.  And Mags needed a brand and package design that conveyed all of that.

Margaret began making jams in her mom’s Napa Valley kitchen.  Now she makes jams in her own kitchen in Arlington, Virginia.  (And she ships orders!  Thanks be to God!)  She came to me with initial ideas for her look – one that would fit the hand cut, homemade, original and unique flavors she fills up in her jars.  And one that wouldn’t break the bank of a young, start up company.  The creative process was great fun!  Mags and I share similar creative bents and continue to pass inspirational tips back and forth in the middle of our work weeks to this day.  How DO we get any work accomplished?!  Well, we do.

The result of our collaboration (and scrumptious product sampling) was a set of custom rubber stamps that she would use to stamp her paper goods as needed – jar labels, business cards, note cards, and shipping labels on boxes.  The stamps were not only a huge budget saver, but a perfect fit for that “handcrafted” look & feel.  And by pairing a classic serif typeface with Maggie’s own handwritten “by Mags” for the logo, the result is a unique brand mark that further conveys that hand made touch.

Note: Jams by Mags is currently stocked with wintertime marmalades and savory jellies!!
Be sure to browse (and drool) and place your orders here.

Branding | Nashville Wedding Planners Group

After the ladies at the helm of the Nashville Wedding Planners Group asked me to design the invitation for their inaugural meeting, it was a natural fit for Tiffani and Jennifer to come to Design in August for an official logo design.  We continued the modern twist on vintage look, and pursued a logo design that would be able to rock the top of a blog header.  Another function of the logo was to create an adapted version that would serve as a vendor or “Member” badge for local area event planners to place on their own sites.  In simply adding a tag to the existing logo to create a badge, the Nashville Wedding Planners Group have a strong, unified look that is immediately recognizable.

As always it was a delight to work with you, gals.  And thank you for the spotlight on our Studio as well!
